Dan King KBMG: Previews

The Jerker

(The Bandit Kings)
May 5, 2010
written by Dan King, Recorded by The Bandit Kings at Bang A Song

The Jerker was written by Dan specifically for the female lead singers of the Bandit Kings.   By putting himself in the shoes of what it might be like for a young girl staking out her space after a break up with a jerk.

" I find writing for other singers a complete release from the restraints of my own limited vocal capability!  These girls high voices are like having a brand new instrument to play "

the jerker

Sad times, freak out lines, drinks on the way

kind of like my low top ride,  boots high and fake

feeling fine, took some time, to get over it

here he comes, out of the sun and into the pit

hide your eyes, hide your eyes

the jerker, the jerker

it was love I was thinking of on a sunny day

now its dark, put out the spark,

I can’t wait for the fade

highs and lows with nothing to show

but burned out remains

I’m strong, don’t help me along

I know your name

hide your eyes, the jerker

leave me alone

don’t you talk to me

get away unless you want me to scream

I’ve got a right to be here tonight

bad fights, turn off the lights,

I’m done with this

little boy don’t make me annoyed

I can throw a fit

walk on, clothes on the lawn,

can’t find your jeans

too bad, it don’t  make me sad

it makes me mean
